She forecasted this shift and has tracked it for over a decade by designing and conducting in-depth research with thousands of people including consumers, employees, supply chain, boards and CEOs.
In her role as founder and CEO of ground breaking research and brand strategy consultancy Ci: conscientious innovation, which she launched in 2003, she guides leading brands in understanding what this shift means for their business, brand, and stakeholders. The opportunities this shift presents, and delivered the insights, ideas and the roadmap to get there. She’s worked with brands that have led the shift, to brands that are currently making the shift and seeking opportunity in many different aspects of their business.

At Ci, Kierstin created, designed and leads the company's research and intelligence tool The SHIFT Report, Ci’s proprietary consumer, cultural and market insights product. The SHIFT Report has been leveraged and customized for global and national brands, guiding them in crucial stages of their foray into understanding and actioning sustainability, corporate/social responsibility and social impact including Dow Jones Sustainability Index sector leadership, strategic partnerships, brand reputation, product innovation, new target audience development, business case and raising venture capital.
Prior to Ci, Kierstin worked in technology as Director of Brand Development at About.com. Before About.com she spent five years as an account planner in the ad agency business where she focused on technology, consumer packaged goods, youth culture, and digital at agencies including DDB Worldwide and Kirshenbaum Bond.
Kierstin has worked with a diverse group of clients and partners from activists to executives and CEOs, from local passion brands and NGOs to global leaders and Fortune 100 brands. Kierstin is passionate about the relationship between people, culture, brands and leveraging that understanding to drive innovation, business success and a better world.
She speaks regularly to audiences from corporations and conferences, to students on shifting consumer and cultural values, and the opportunities this represents for business and brands. Kierstin has been featured in a range of leading business, brand and sustainability media. She created and hosted a recurring segment on network news (Global TV), co-produced and hosted a Sustainability Innovators interview series on Sustainable Life Media and has been the recipient of a Telefilm Canada Award at the Banff International Television Festival.
